CIBO Galleria 2011 WINNER NICK RUTTEN

The votes are in! CIBO Espresso is thrilled to announce that local artist Nick Rutten and has been awarded first place in CIBO Galleria 2011. Five of Rutten’s outstanding pieces were displayed at CIBO Espresso Henley Beach, but his work ‘Torso’ caught the eyes of CIBO patrons and placed him the final running to win the $10,000 grand prize.

A panel of judges, including Nick Mitzevich, Samela Harris and Lance Campbell were faced with the hard decision to choose a winner from the three outstanding People’s Choice finalists.

The Galleria grand prize will also expose Rutten’s talents further when his art is printed on CIBO Espresso takeaway cups during the 2012 SALA Festival.

Rutten says ‘Cibo Galleria exhibition has been an unbelievable experience. It has affirmed to me that people appreciate and enjoy my technique and subject matter.’

Rutten received amazing feedback since the exhibition, and has even been commissioned for more pieces. It seems people cannot get enough of his unique and vibrant style.

The public were encouraged to vote for their favourite artwork online. Collecting the most online votes in the competition, Erin Phillips was the People’s Choice winner, for her piece ‘Magura’. Bridget Alfred also gained public recognition for her piece ‘Magic Moments – Jumping Girls’ coming a very close second. By placing their votes, three lucky customers have also won 365 free coffees from any CIBO Espresso bar.

With more votes than ever before, it is testament to the high standard and appreciation for South Australian art.
